Peira wool yarns

I'm delighted to introduce you to the new Peira base. The wool comes from lourdaises and tarasconnaises ewes, harvested in the Val d'Azun. As with Azun yarns, the processing is 100% French, local and traced. The wool is natural, meaning it has not been carbonised, bleached or treated superwash.

Peira yarns were created by blending ecru wool with black wool. As black wool is very rare in these two breeds of sheep, I harvested black wool for 2 years before being able to use it in a transformation.

The result is a beautiful mottled grey, warm and natural.

The wool has a dry feel but is not itchy! The yarn is also very strong and incredibly round

This new base will be made up of the natural mottled grey colour, as well as several plant-based colours

I named this base Peira in homage to the grey standing stones (Peira hita in Occitan) that can be found in the Val d'Azun from where the wool comes from and which are historical jewels of our mountain territory.
