Origin and processing

French production with traceability certified by LAINAMAC (yarns referenced in the Lanathèque):

- Collected and sorted by hand in Val d'Azun in the Hautes-Pyrénées, by me

- Washed, carded and spun at the Niaux spinning mill in Ariège

- The grey colour is natural and has been obtained by blending ecrue wool with black wool

The other colours were produced at the Myrobolan workshop in Felletin, Creuse (FR)
The colours are obtained from plant extracts, with a bio-mordant. The range comprises five colours:
- Acacia Pink, a delicate pink obtained from acaciaThe colour
- Quebracho Pink, a warm pink with a hint of yellow-orange obtained from quebracho extractThe colour
- Bordeaux St Marthe, a deep plum colour obtained from Saint Marthe wood, obtained from the first dye bath
- Old pink St Marthe, a mottled pink colour obtained from Saint Marthe wood, obtained from the second dye bath
- Campêche blue, a deep midnight blue tending towards grey, obtained from campêche wood.

Good to know

Dark colors such as Campêche Blue and Bordeaux St Marthe are likely to bleed for a while but it won't lose its colour (the colour doesn't fade on the yarn), already when knitting, on the fingers and on the needles if they are bamboo, but this disappears with a good soaping. The wash water may also be a little coloured on the first few washes, but for example, in the case of a jacquard, the blue/bordeaux will not migrate onto the other colours, even the lighter ones.

Care

Wool is not treated with superwash. We recommend hand-washing cold with a mild ecological detergent (or homemade detergent with Marseille soap) and then drying flat. If you want to test the wool programme on your washing machine, try a sample first to avoid any disappointment. For more advice on caring for your natural wool knitwear, visit my blog.
